What this site is

exitagreement.co.uk publishes general information about settlement agreements under the law of England, Wales and Scotland, and operates an enquiry form that passes details to solicitors’ firms which advertise here.

exitagreement.co.uk is not a law firm. It is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, it does not provide legal advice, it does not carry out reserved legal activities and it does not act for anyone. Nothing on this site is legal advice, nothing on it is a substitute for advice on your own circumstances, and sending an enquiry does not create a solicitor–client relationship with us or with anyone else.

How we are paid, in full

The listings and enquiry routes on this site are paid advertising. Firms pay a fixed advertising fee for each enquiry passed to them. That fee is agreed in advance and does not depend on the outcome of any matter, on the value of any settlement, or on any fee a firm may charge you. We take no percentage of, and no deduction from, anything a firm earns.

That structure is deliberate and it is the whole point. A marketing arrangement that takes a cut of a lawyer’s fee is fee sharing, and fee sharing is what ended the most widely reported attempt at this in another jurisdiction. A flat price per enquiry is not, and it has the useful side effect that we have no financial reason to prefer one firm over another.

What we do not do

We do not rank, score, rate or review firms. We do not operate a referral service in the sense of selecting the adviser we think is right for you, and we do not attempt to match enquirers to the “right” adviser. Enquiries are sent to firms advertising for the area indicated, without independent review of the merits of your matter by this site. You choose who, if anyone, you instruct.

We publish no client reviews, no star ratings, no case results and no superlatives, because we could not substantiate any of them.

About the information itself

Law changes and statutory money figures are uprated every 6 April. Every page states the date its content was last checked and tags each statutory figure with the tax year it belongs to. Even so, general information written for everybody is not advice for you, and the difference between the two is usually the facts of your case. Where a figure could not be verified against a primary source, we say so on the page rather than estimating it.

The calculator produces an estimate. The statutory elements in it are calculated exactly from the legislation; the negotiated element is produced by a published scoring rule which is set out in full on the methodology page. It is not a prediction, it is not advice, and no one should rely on it to decide whether to accept an offer.

Your details

If you send an enquiry, your details are passed to no more than three firms advertising for your area so that they can contact you about settlement agreement advice. The cap is written into the consent text on the form itself rather than buried here. You can withdraw consent at any time, and you can ask us to delete your details, by writing to contact@exitagreement.co.uk (plain text, not a link — this site deliberately runs no direct contact channels other than its forms).

Are you a solicitors' firm?

No. exitagreement.co.uk is a publisher. We are not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, we do not carry out reserved legal activities and we do not give legal advice of any kind.

How are you paid?

Solicitors' firms pay us a fixed advertising fee for each enquiry we pass to them. The fee is agreed before any enquiry is sent, and it is the same regardless of the outcome of your matter, regardless of the size of any settlement, and regardless of anything a firm charges you. Do you check the firms my enquiry goes to?

We confirm that a firm is authorised and regulated to provide the advice it is advertising for. We do not otherwise vet, rank, score, rate or recommend firms, and nothing on this site should be read as a recommendation of any particular firm or adviser.

What happens to my details?

They are sent to no more than three firms advertising for your area, for the purpose of contacting you about settlement agreement advice. We do not sell your details for any other purpose. You can ask us to delete them by writing to contact@exitagreement.co.uk.
